The Tesla Roadster - Electric Car - the first highway-capable all-electric vehicle in serial production available in the United States. The other electric cars will follow the Tesla Roadster.

The following text below can be found on Wikipedia:

"The Tesla Roadster is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports car produced by the electric car firm Tesla Motors in California. The Roadster was the first highway-capable all-electric vehicle in serial production available in the United States. Since 2008 Tesla has sold more than 1,500 Roadsters in 30 countries as of March 2011.[2] Tesla began producing right-hand-drive Roadsters in early 2010 for the British Isles, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.[3]

The Roadster is the first production automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells and the first production BEV (all-electric) to travel more than 200 miles (320 km) per charge.[4] The world distance record of 501 km (311 mi) for a production electric car on a single charge was set by a Roadster on October 27, 2009, during the Global Green Challenge in outback Australia, in which it averaged a speed of 25 mph (40 km/h)." - Wikipedia

The following text below can be found in the Preface of "Tesla : Man Out of Time" by Margaret Cheney:

"When a California company recently announced its plans to produce a high-speed all-electric sports car, the entrepreneurs unsurprisingly chose the name Tesla Motor Company. Hollywood admirers predictably rushed to invest millions in its future. Almost a century earlier, Tesla (one of the earliest environmentalists) had experimented with all-electric cars with limited success.

Larry Page, who with his partner Sergey Brin created the global search engine Google, says that his interest in science started early. As explained in The Economist, "When he was twelve, he read a biography of Nikola Tesla, prolific inventor who never got credit for much, but is now a hero among geeks". Page, a bona fide visionary, considered writing his thesis at Standford University on Tesla but decided to "play it safe," as he said, and proceeded to invent Google"
