Global Warming and Greenhouse Effect

Global Warming is a threat to our civilization.  Due to increasing and uncontrollable emissions of exhaust gases from industry and cars around the world, a layer of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, sulfur gas, etc is accumulating in the upper atmosphere of our planet, preventing heat loss from solar radiation.  As a result, the temperature of our planet is increasing, causing the melting of ice in the Northern and Southern poles.  The level of oceans and sea lines will increase, causing flooding of certain areas of continents.  The increased surface of oceans water will increase the population of mosquitoes causing malaria, dengue, and yellow fever.  Due to contamination of drinking water, the serious infectious disease cholera will spread.  The animal and plant kingdoms will change.

Milutin Milankovic (1879 -1958)

The great Serbian astronomer, mathematician and scientist

Famous Serbian geophysicist Milutin Milankovic explained climate cycles.  He became convinced that the key to past climate changes was the way in which the solar radiation reaching the Earth had varied with time and latitude.  There are three main variables.  First the shape of the Earth's orbit stretches from circular to more elliptical and back again, with the periodicity of about 100,000 years.  Second, the Earth's spin axis wobbles, or 'precesses', like a tilting spinning top, the pole position making a complete loop every 26,000 years.  Third, the angle between Earth's equatorial and orbital planes varies by a few degrees every 40,000 years.  These three different cycles beat together.

The Serbian geophysicist Milutin Milankovic is placed in "The Science Book" about the "250 Milestones in the History of Science" together with Archimedes, Galileo, Marie Curie, Andre Marie Ampere, Michael Faraday, Einstein, Newton, Mendeleyev, and other great men/women in history.
