Dr. Ljubomir Vujovic, President and Website Editor of the Tesla Memorial Society of New York dies on November 28, 2021

Dr. Ljubomir Vujovic M.D., President and Website Editor of the Tesla Memorial Society of New York passed away this morning (November 28, 2021) surrounded by family in the village of Komarno, Montenegro.

Dr. Vujovic was a physician, author, film producer and one of the leading figures in the Tesla Movement in the United States. His work to keep the memory of Nikola Tesla alive will never be forgotten.

As the President of the Tesla Memorial Society of New York, Dr. Vujovic had a passion for public speaking. He participated in many television, radio and newspaper interviews related to Nikola Tesla and his work.

Above: On July 10, 1990, the Tesla Memorial Society of New York celebrated the 134th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla. Dr. Vujovic organized the "Visit to Tesla Tower", on Long Island, where Tesla built a laboratory and transmission Tower (Wardenclyffe Tower), as the first broadcasting system in the world (1901 - 1905).

On July 10, 2001 the Nikola Tesla Commemorative plaque was unveiled on Hotel New Yorker, in Manhattan. Nikola Tesla lived in Hotel New Yorker for the last 10 years of his life. Dr. Vujovic was able to place the plaque on Hotel New Yorker honouring the life and work of Nikola Tesla.

Dr. Vujovic worked with New York City officials and with the Croatian Club of New York, supplying authorities with necessary documents and information for the placement of the Nikola Tesla Street sign in Manhattan at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 40th Street.

Ljubo coauthored the documentary film "Nikola Tesla: The Genius Who Lit the World". He also produced the documentary film "From Immigrant to Inventor: Michael Pupin Remembered" and "The Kingdom of Montenegro".

Ljubo was the editor of the Tesla Memorial Society of New York website. Ljubomir Vujovic worked on the website for many years posting informative articles about Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Michael Pupin, Mileva Maric (Einstein’s first wife) and many others.

Dr. Ljubomir Vujovic was practicing physician in the New York Metropolitan are for over 50 years. During the 1970s, he helped the Yugoslav Medical Society and many hospitals in Yugoslavia with cancer protocols and treatment.

For many years now, Dr. Ljubomir Vujovic has promoted Nikola Tesla Day (July 10), as a day of science, progress and peace among all nations and religious of the world.

Dr. Ljubomir Vujovic will be greatly missed by both his family and the Tesla admirers around the world. His passion for teaching, speaking and promotion of the great work of Nikola Tesla was tremendous. We would like to thank Dr. Ljubo Vujovic for his tireless and lifelong devotion to the Tesla Movement around the world.

Preminuo dr Ljubomir Vujovic, predsednik Tesla memorijalnog drustva iz Njujorka

Dr Ljubomir Vujovic, predsednik Tesla memorijalnog drustva iz Njujorka preminuo je u nedelju 28. novembra 2021. okruzen porodicom u selu Komarno (Crna Gora).

Dr Vujovic je bio lekar, pisac, filmski producent i jedna od vodecih licnosti Teslinog pokreta u Americi. Njegov dugogodisnji volonterski rad imao je za cilj ocuvanje secanja na lik i delo Nikole Tesle i nikada nece biti zaboravljen. Neumorno je radio kao lekar u njujorskoj Metropoliten bolnici (Metropolitan Hospital) preko 50 godina.

Svoje slobodno vreme posvecivao je Tesli: saradivao je sa celnicima grada Njujorka, dostavljajuci im potrebna dokumenta i informacije za postavljanje znaka "Nikola Tesla CORNER" na uglu 6.avenije i 40. ulice.

Zahvaljujuci njemu 10. jula 2001. otkrivena je komemorativna ploca na hotelu Njujorker na Menhetnu. Ploca je napravljena 1977. ali zbog politickih razloga nije mogla biti postavljena. Dr Vujovicu su oko ovog posla pomogli Srpska pravoslavna crkva i mnogi ugledni pojedinci. Nakon 24 godine ploca je postavljena i danas stoji na hotelu u kome je Tesla ziveo od 1933. do 1943.

Ovaj sajt sadrzi mnoge informacije, fotografije i dokumenta o Nikoli Tesli, Mihajlu Pupinu, Milevi Maric. a posetilo ga je skoro 3 miliona ljudi.

Dr Vujovic je autor obimne knjige u dva toma "Tribute to Tesla" (Priznanje Tesli) koja sadrzi mnoge ilustracije i dokumenta o raskosnom geniju. On je inicirao i bio izuzetno aktivan u najvecem istrazivackom projektu o Nikoli Tesli pod nazivom: "Tesla collection" (Teslina kolekcija). Autor je dokumentarnog filma: "Nikola Tesla, the Genius Who Lit the World" ("Nikola Tesla – genije koji je osvetlio svet"), koji je napravljen u saradnji sa muzejom "Nikola Tesla" iz Beograda. Film je dobio medunarodno priznanje kao najbolji svetski dokumentarni film o Tesli. Film je na engleskom jeziku, ali je preveden na nemacki, francuski i srpski jezik i prikazan je na raznim TV stanicama sirom planete. On je autor brojnih clanaka posvecenih Tesli, a ucestvovao je i u mnogim TV, radio i novinskim intervjuima koji su imali za temu Teslin rad, ali i srpsku kulturu.

Producirao je i dokumentarne filmove "Od imigranta do pronalazaca o Mihailu Pupinu" i "Kraljevina Crna Gora".

NAGRADE

Sedamdesetih godina proslog veka bio je aktivan u pomoci jugoslovenskom udruzenju lekara i mnogim bolnicama u Jugoslaviji, sa tretmanima i lekovima za oboljenja od raka. On je u to vreme specijalizirao hematologiju i onkologiju. Dr Vujovic je primio nagradu "The City Coucil Citation" za svoj lekarski rad u Njujorku. Na nagradi je urezana posveta: "Dr Vujovic je istaknuti gradanin vredan pohvale i zahvalnosti ovoga veca i gradana Njujorka." Pored ove nagrade Dr Vujovic je sa ponosom nosio i ordenje koje je dobio od Republikanske partije Amerike, orden od Tita za zasluge u vezi lecenja raka, od Vlade Srbije i Vojislava Kostunice za rad na promociji Nikole Tesle.

10. JUL – NACIONALNI DAN NAUKE U SRBIJI I REPUBLICI SRPSKOJ

Zahvaljujuci Dr Vujovicu i inicijativi Tesla Memorijalnog Drustva iz Njujorka pocetkom 2010. uputili smo predlog g-dinu Bozidaru delicu, tada potpredsedniku Vlade Republike Srbije i ministru za nauku i tehnologiju da Republika Srbija proglasi Teslin rodendan 10. jul za nacionalni Dan nauke u Srbiji sto je na nasu veliku radost i uradeno. U Srbiji je prvi put 2011. ustanovljen i obelezen nacionalni Dan nauke, 10. jul, dan rodenja Nikole Tesle.

Isti predlog uputili smo pocetkom februara 2020. Vladi Republike Srpske – gospodinu Miloradu Dodiku, srpskom clanu Predsednistva BiH i gospodi zeljki Cvijanovic, Predsednici Republike Srpske – inicirajuci da Teslin rodendan 10. jul bude proglasen za nacionalni Dan nauke u Republici Srpskoj.

Nazalost, Dr Vujovic se "preselio" kod njegovog i naseg Tesle, a odgovor iz Vlade Republike Srpske nije stigao, ali clanovi Tesla Memorijalnog Drustva iz Njujorka nastavice i dalje sa radom, po uzoru na dragog Dr Ljubomira Ljuba Vujovica.

Poslednji TV nastup imao je na RTCG u junu 2021. kada je ugostio novinare u svojoj staroj porodicnoj kuci u selu Komarno koju je preuredio i pretvorio u mali Tesla muzej i Tesla Memorijalno Drustvo iz Njujorka – ogranak za Crnu Goru. Tu se nalaze brojne Tesline slike i fotografije, kao i novinarski tekstovi koje je Tesla pisao pre vise od 100 godina.
